Spending a Productive Quarantine: A Fruitful Insight

Spending a Productive Quarantine: A Fruitful Insight

Invest the free time you have in your growth; meditate, develop your skills and stay connected while keeping overall health in check.

The spread of coronavirus has forced us to stay indoors and maintain social distancing. It could be frightening for anyone to acknowledge the casualties that have been happening lately due to the disease and how easily communicable it is. Maintaining good personal hygiene and overall health are the foremost things to keep in check, though spending prolonged isolation could be mentally lethargic. What I meant to say is, while we all are at home spending most of our time with ourselves and our families, we could utilize this period for self-growth and indulge ourselves in things we didn’t have time for before, while keeping overall health in check.

Lets us have a look at six engaging activities that you could do to keep yourself active during the pandemic:

Pick up That Book You Have Been Putting Off

This is a great time to get back on reading, the joy of immersing yourself in a book is nothing like anything else. Reading a book is like taking a dip in the pond, the characters and storyline help you familiarize with the underwater creatures and their life. It is a different experience than watching a movie, in fact, writers knit the baselines of movies and tv series which are the prime entertainment in the current times.

No matter if you prefer fiction, nonfiction, biographical, or something related to work, pick up a new book this week and start reading. Even second-hand books are available to buy online if you do a little research, so there are no excuses in this area. You can also pick an audiobook if you prefer or read on the kindle, though reading a book is classic and has its own charm.

Exercise Regularly

If you are a fitness enthusiast and exercise consistently then you might know that discipline is the key to maintain a regular workout regime. Doing a moderate work out 3-4 times a week or spending 20 minutes every day on physical activities would help you maintain the basic requirement of our body. Working out keeps your physical and mental health in check, it helps you focus on other important activities as well. There are various youtube videos and phone applications available today which covers up how to stay healthy during COVID-19.

For people undergoing any mental health condition, an emotional support dog would be a good companion for getting them out for morning walks.

Pick up a New Skill

This is the perfect time you could use to acquire a new skill. This could include joining an online hobby class or something that you enjoy doing. Learning to play an instrument is a great choice during this time or if you are fond of sketching or painting, that would be something playful and enjoyable. With the myriad of options available on almost everything on the internet, you can pick something up and learn how it works. My sister cooks something new every other day by looking it up online, I’ve been learning violin myself and a close friend of mine has picked up online chess classes.

It’s a great way to keep your mind off things while having a good time and learning something new.

So, what are you waiting for?

Enroll in an Online Course

Enrolling in a knowledge-based course to boost your professional career is an excellent choice at this time. Coming out prepared when things resume to normal will boost your confidence and help you in your professional career. You could pick up a technical language or certificate course or enroll in a virtual internship course. There are many open universities that offer a wide range of online foundation level courses. You can build up on your personal learning by creating a free profile on any open learning website. Even you can refer to Edx or FutureLearn for other options

Build up a Connection With Yourself: Meditate

Staying mindful is directly related to how you feel about yourself. Meditating every day keeps your mental health sound and provides you peace of mind. You don’t have to dig the technicalities here, just finding a quiet place and breathing consciously for a few minutes to build up a connection with yourself and do a healthy self-introspection is good enough. Playing your choice or something that enhances your quiet time could also be added here. Online platforms like Headspace and Aura could help you in case you’re new to meditation.

Staying in Touch With Your Friends, Family, And Loved Ones

During these times we are together in isolation and staying connected with your loved ones is a sign of being emotionally supportive. Calling up your grandparents and catching up over old stories or just sharing your daily routine would bring a sense of togetherness and love. Even having a virtual drink with your colleagues or friends once in a while is a great way to bond. It’s good for our mental health, which is vital in times like these.

4 Household Chores That Should Only Be Done by Professionals

4 Household Chores That Should Only Be Done by Professionals

There’s always someone in the family who thinks that they can fix anything. Be it wall paint or loose hinges on the door, they are up for everything. But, while you can afford to get the small things done by your self proclaimed efficient father or husband, there’s also a long list of household chores that should only be handled by a professional.

You may be able to fix things for a while, but when it comes to doing things in the best way, there’s no comparison to the work of experts. Today, let me walk you through 4 common household chores that should only be done by professionals and not your handy father.

Plumbing

There’s always a day when you wake up from your deep sleep because of a dripping sound in the toilet. Or wake up to a broken toilet that doesn’t flush properly. When you are face to face with these issues, you don’t take the plier in your own hands. Trying to fix leakages or water heater issues can do more harm than good. The best thing to do is call a plumber.

It takes no more than 15 seconds to pick up your phone and call someone to fix your broken toilet. In fact, you can get an emergency plumber in Cheltenham in the dead of the night to fix any plumbing issues in your home. So, you don’t have to wing it, ever.

Carpet Cleaning

Carpets are one of the many things that store unhygienic levels of dust. You walk over them with your dirty shoes, drop food crumbs and even have your pet rub its back on it. All of this is getting collected in the carpet fibers. It’s not healthy and can even develop health problems in the long run. All you diets and exercise is up to no good if you have an unhygienic living space.

Having a vacuum cleaner or steam cleaner is one option. But, weekly cleaning is not sufficient. You need someone to deep-clean your carpet. Let a professional handle it and make your carpet new as ever.

Air Ducts

Dirty air ducts are a call for health problems. The air you breathe in your home needs to be clean and fresh. A dirty air duct does the opposite. A dirty air duct is not only a reason for harming the indoor air quality. It also holds a great potential to develop mold.

When it’s time to clean the ducts, you don’t grab a broom and start cleaning. It’s a job of a professional. Cleaning air ducts needs special training and proper equipment. There are areas that can only be accessed by an expert. They also have a better idea about whether or not you need a cleaning.

So, the next time you think that it has been a long time since your air ducts have been cleaned, call a professional.

Mold

Mold growth can be more dangerous than you think. Some of the molds are poisonous and should not be touched by you or anyone in your family. So, if you come across blue, green or black growth in your bathroom, bedroom wall or in the crawl spaces, call a professional to get it cleaned. They can do the job more efficiently than you.

We’ve all gone through this phase of deep cleaning the house during the lockdown. That’s how most people decided to add productivity to their stationary life. But, remember that deep cleaning can be best done by professionals. There’s an expert for every household chore. Whether it’s your windows, dirty carpet, curtains or electrical wires, you can make a call and get it done. It’s safe and more convenient. You will have to pay extra but the end result will be worth it.

This coronavirus has managed to shake up the logistics industry as well. There have been many challenges that have come to the forefront that were previously non-existent. It is not every day that almost every country in the world seals its border.  The logistics industry had to work twice as hard to ensure that goods and supplies got to their intended destination. Many processes had to undergo change and restructuring.

So, what had to change, and what will continue to evolve now that people are moving once again?
